Change Management Foundation Exam

Information on the Change Management Foundation Exam and APMG Sample paper

You may find it useful to understand the format and duration of the Foundation examination to assist you in your preparation. 

The Change Management Foundation Exam is a short multiple-choice style examination with 60 questions to be taken in one hour.  This is a closed book examination and to do well you will need to be familiar with all four areas of Change Management syllabus – Individual Change, Team Change, Organisational Change and Leadership. 

  • Closed book
  • 60 multiple choice questions
  • Pass mark is 30/60
  • Each of the exam questions is worth 1 mark
  • 1 hour duration

From the Change Management Examination Syllabus:
This level is aiming to measure whether a candidate could act as an informed member of a change management team during a period of change within part or all of their organization.

This is aimed at individuals who require a working knowledge of the key principles of change management, who need to know the terminology used and some of the theory behind the practice. It is also the introduction to the higher level Practitioner qualification.

Specifically:-

  • Understand the behaviour that individuals, teams and organizations exhibit during change
  • Understand the purpose and responsibilities of the roles typically associated with change management
  • Understand the approaches to organizational change outlined in the text Making Sense of Change Management (2nd Edition)
  • Understand the concept of leadership and the different behaviours and skills associated with the leadership of change 

 

To have an idea of the types of Foundation Exam questions you will be asked we recommend that you download and attempt the sample paper supplied by the APMG.  Alternatively a hard copy will be provided when you attend your course. The three elements that you will need to download in order to attempt the questions are:
